(A Theocracy, a Dictatorship, etc.)
An American Democracy requires a “Majority Rule”. An elected few may determine the Rules, but the elected few are by “majority rule”! Other countries have different commitments. Who is to say which ones are acceptable and for how long? A “majority type election” may be the choice right now, but how about the future? Suppose the majority changes its mind? They NOW want something different. In an American Democracy, the mind has not changed! But if we “give” an American type Democracy to a country that changes its mind….. what then?
The only way to see whether a country has changed its mind, is to have another “majority” election …..regardless of cost, etc. If a country has changed its mind, we should know! If we are unsure, we must measure our commitment. We can’t guess!!
In Iraq, if we are unsure as to whether the people want a “Caliphate” or some other type government telling the people what to do, we should know! We cannot “sell” the people an idea that they either don’t understand or are opposed to that idea. We can’t ever win with a majority that won’t stand up for an American type Democracy…. (rule by majority) Is it lack of proper “selling” or is it a true change in the mindset? If all we (the Democracy) have to offer is drugs, sex and violence, then it is no wonder that the people reject this. If we fail in our “selling”, then it is “our” fault.
Which is “true”??
